The OC Regional Council
Our Regional Council is comprised of trade associations representing legacy cannabis-producing regions of California.
Origins Council defines legacy cannabis-producing regions as those rural areas of California that have established prolific small-scale cannabis cultivation and herbal medicine craft over the past 2 or more decades and where locally owned, independent small businesses dominate the regulated cannabis sector.
The Regional Council serves as the strategic on-the-ground leadership of Origins Council and governs the organization’s policy initiatives. Our Government Affairs Team represents the collective 900+ member businesses in these historic regions, including all sectors of the supply chain, as well as ancillary businesses and those legacy cannabis farmers that have not yet had an opportunity to get licensed.

Our research partners support all three programmatic scopes of Origins Council, including our research, education and advocacy efforts. Origins Council strives for accuracy, efficacy and excellence in our work. Our trusted team of accredited advisors and research partners help us attain these goals through our collaborations. Collaborating organizations
Collaborating organizations work with Origins Council on specific-scope and/or limited time-frame projects. Collaborators work directly with Origins Council staff, advisers and the OC Regional Council as needed. Examples of collaborations include sharing of analysis or services, coordinated advocacy, research or education initiatives and membership networking.

Origins Council is grateful to our Regional Sponsors for supporting the critical work of the OC Regional Council in our policy advocacy at the Capital. Our Regional Sponsors ensure the affordability and access of this program to the regional trade associations serving our rural legacy producing regions. This helps to realize our vision to support the development and membership growth of our Regional Partner organizations, and strengthen the critical work they do within their local communities on behalf of our state’s treasured legacy farming and business communities.
Our Regional Sponsors are key partners in advancing our mission for the sustainable rural economic development of our historic rural cannabis producing regions. All of our Regional Sponsors receive our e-news letters and publications, and are invited to join our monthly membership zoom meetings. These meetings are a venue for connecting with the membership of our Regional Partners, learning about the latest critical policy issues facing our community and the work underway in the OC Regional Council Government Affairs Program.
